Recent German research and a similar British study found that almost 10,000 different bacteria are present per square inch of a typical ladies handbag or purse, making it dirtier than an average Toilet seat.
Everyone unknowingly puts things, items, and foods in the handbag and many times forget about it altogether. The bacteria from our hands can also contaminate the bags inner linings. The handles and bottoms of the handbags are the worst contaminated. Unfortunately, unlike the toilets which get cleaned daily, the handbags are rarely cleaned.
It is recommended that the handbags should be emptied out every 7 to 10 days and sprayed with alcohol-based disinfectant sprays containing Quaternary Ammonium Compounds. Only alcohol or water-based cleaner sprays are not recommended for cleaning or sanitizing the handbags.
