Whenever we take a bath or shower, we feel refreshed. But bath towels are most important when it comes to personal hygiene.
Many of us do not realize that bath towels can carry a huge variety of germs. Every time we use a towel, we transfer natural skin bacteria and dead skin cells on the bath towel. These bacteria can survive on towel surfaces up to 15 days. One recent study has confirmed that nearly 90% of bathroom towels were contaminated with coliform bacteria.
Wet towels are equally problematic. The longer towels remain damp, it offers the perfect environment for the growth of a variety of microorganisms. Using a dirty towel can cause irritated skin and can also spread infections.
It is easy to take care of bath towels. Always thoroughly air-dry bath towels after every use. Never share bath towels with anyone except immediate family members. For a regular use Bath towel, every third day, soak the towel in laundry sanitizer for 15 mins and then wash with laundry detergent; or wash with disinfectant grade laundry detergent.
